What automation OEMs should specify for CNC parts

Good CNC sourcing starts with the features that affect fit, function and repeatability.

A useful CNC part brief

Include the model, drawing, material, quantity and application. Identify the surfaces that mate with other components and the dimensions that are genuinely critical.

Five useful specification groups

  1. Material: state the grade and any required condition.
  2. Tolerance: mark critical dimensions instead of applying a tight tolerance everywhere.
  3. Finish: specify anodizing, brushing, blasting or another requirement when it affects function or appearance.
  4. Quantity: separate prototype, pilot and repeat demand.
  5. Inspection: list the dimensions or interfaces that need evidence before shipment.

Do not publish customer names, exact costs or performance claims in an SEO article unless they are approved and verified.
